How often do you take the time to slow down and really enjoy what you’re doing? Do you ever stop, look around and just be thankful for where you are or who you’ve become? So many of us are guilty of speeding through life without enjoying the great things that are happening all around us.

Throughout my career in the corporate world, I was always given tasks to complete under a certain (usually tough) deadline.   As I’ve grown older, I have noticed that I live my life outside of work in a similar manner – always on the go, trying to achieve a goal in a certain amount of time. But very rarely do I take the time to enjoy the journey I’m on to get to that goal.

Over the past couple of weeks, juggling a move into our new house, planning a wedding and keeping up with my career have proven to be more than I can handle. I felt like I was being pulled in a million directions while under a large amount of stress! If I would have been tackling any of these major life events (new house, wedding and new career) by themselves, I know I would have been busy but I think it would have been manageable.

Luckily, I have a very sweet and understanding fiancé that can read me like a book. One day last week, he read the stress on my face and said “Let’s enjoy this process and not speed through it!” He took a number of things off my plate and told me to take a step back and relax.

Recognizing the craziness in my life, I’ve created a weekly schedule that allows me to tackle my three big projects in an organized manner. I don’t freak out when everything isn’t done immediately. Our house is coming together beautifully! I know our wedding is going to be perfect! And my business is growing like crazy! Most importantly, I am enjoying the process of doing all of these things.

I challenge you to slow your life down. Find enjoyment when you’re busy – it will change the way you look at things!   And how you feel when you’re doing them!!
