What does your morning routine look like? If you’re similar to the old me, I’d hit the snooze button a couple of times and after a while, I would roll out of bed. I ‘d stumble to the kitchen and immediately grab a cup of coffee. I felt that coffee helped me truly open my eyes and I found that I relied on it to keep me going through the day.

Almost two years ago, I had an awakening – I was drinking A LOT of coffee. I would get shaky if I had too much coffee and a headache if I had too little. I knew I needed to make a change! I read about warm lemon water in the morning a number of times over the years and finally decided to give it a try.

Wow! Who knew that adding something so simple to my morning routine would make such a noticeable difference in my energy level and complexion?! I no longer NEED caffeine and although, I still do enjoy the taste of coffee, I have been able to significantly cut back on my consumption. By starting my day with warm lemon water, I feel like I am waking up my internal systems in a much more gentle way than jumping straight into coffee or breakfast.

As you may know, lemons are packed with nutrients, including vitamin-C, B-complex, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium and fiber. Some of the many benefits of drinking lemon water in the morning include:

  • Helps cut caffeine
  • Stimulates and improves digestion

How can you add it to your morning routine?

  • Heat 12-16 ounces of water
  • Add juice from an organic lemon (if you’re new, start with a small slice and try to build up to a half of a lemon)

Optional additional ingredients:

  • Ginger (Aids in digestions)
  • Turmeric (Aids in anti-inflammatory)
  • Cayenne Pepper (Metabolism booster)
